Coursework spans the fundamentals of precision medicine and its significance in healthcare, genomic technologies and their diagnostic applications, molecular diagnostics techniques including PCR and next-generation sequencing, biomarkers and their role in precision diagnostics, and data analysis and interpretation. The programme also covers case studies illustrating real-world application, the ethical considerations particular to precision medicine, and emerging directions in the field. The thesis phase, carried out at G.E.R.N., forms the applied research component of the degree.Die Lehrinhalte reichen von den Grundlagen der Präzisionsmedizin und ihrer Bedeutung für das Gesundheitswesen über Genomtechnologien und deren diagnostische Anwendung, molekulardiagnostische Verfahren wie PCR und Next-Generation-Sequencing, Biomarker und ihre Rolle in der Präzisionsdiagnostik bis hin zu Datenanalyse und -interpretation. Der Studiengang behandelt zudem Fallstudien zur praktischen Anwendung, die für die Präzisionsmedizin spezifischen ethischen Fragestellungen sowie aktuelle Entwicklungen des Fachgebiets. Die Abschlussarbeitsphase am G.E.R.N. bildet die anwendungsbezogene Forschungskomponente des Studiengangs.
