Pharmaceutical QC/QA

Read the science behind this

SIWES internship, Phamatex Industries: pharmaceutical microbiology testing, water-for-injection quality testing, deviation investigation.

Jessica spent six months inside a pharmaceutical quality control laboratory. From March to September 2020, as a SIWES industrial intern at Phamatex Industries Limited in Lagos, she ran microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples and finished products. Water testing was a large part of it, covering purified water, water for injection, and routine environmental monitoring across the facility. She also handled equipment calibration, SOP compliance, deviation investigation and CAPA. That last item is the one that changes how a person works. A deviation investigation means writing down what went wrong, why, and what will stop it recurring, in a document somebody else will audit. She was concurrently Chief Financial Officer of Célcic Limited and in the final year of her B.Sc., which is the pattern most of her record follows. Pharmaceutical QC/QA still appears in her technical skills, and the habits show in her protocol work.
